The reefer doors operate. They are constructed in 3 pieces: 2 doors and the operating lever. The hinges are oversize, required for operation. Much criticism has been made over the fact that there are only two hinges and they are placed at the extreme corners. Some two hinge cars remained in the 50s, but most were three hinge. Prototype modelers have suggested removing the hinges and replacing them with a Tichy set.

The hatches appear to be too small. Also the roof would have been painted mineral brown on the prototype.

The underframe has received a lot of criticism. It would have been a twin I-beam frame, not a box frame as shown.

The roof hatches work and are carefully molded. Grabs are wire. The brake shaft is plastic.

The model is 9" too narrow and 8" too short. So, if you are a critical rivet counter, count this one out. If you have failing eyesight or use the 3' standard, it might look good on your railroad.
